Minnesota Timberwolves Receive: G/F Ben Simmons
Philadelphia 76ers Receive: G D’Angelo Russell, F Josh Okogie, 2022 First-Round Pick, 2024 First-Round Pick
In the end, Minnesota would almost definitely have to include one of their big three in any deal for Simmons. With how well Karl-Anthony Towns has been playing, and how young Anthony Edwards is, D’Angelo Russell is the odd man out.
He would be sent to Philadelphia alongside youngster Josh Okogie and two first-round picks. Russell was an All-Star just a few short years ago, and Okogie is a solid defender who Philadelphis could throw out onto the perimeter.
The picks wouldn’t matter too much in the grand scheme of things, but it simply gives the Philadelphia 76ers more assets to trade away. If Minnesota lands Simmons, they shouldn’t concern themselves with picks, anyways.
Simmons would be heading to Minnesota to team up with Towns and Edwards. They’ve built their foundation on the defensive side of the ball this season, so adding Simmons would only help them in that regard.
