The Golden State Warriors have Stephen Curry playing at an MVP level, but as we’ve seen the last two NBA seasons, that doesn’t always translate to team success. This season, they are receiving contributions from up and down the roster, which has helped immensely.

Golden State currently holds the best rest in the NBA at 29-7. They are getting it done on both ends of the court, as they are dominant defensively as they are efficient offensively.

One of the reasons for that success was a focus on rebuilding the depth of the team. Bob Myers did an excellent job this past offseason bringing in veterans that fit the system. One of those veterans was Otto Porter Jr.

Porter has battled injuries in recent seasons. He has already played in more games this season, 31, than he did last season between the Chicago Bulls and Orlando Magic when he played in 28 games. He was available even fewer times during the 2019-20 season when he played in only 14 games with the Bulls.

Golden State is lucky they are getting healthy, refocused Porter. No matter what role the team needs him to play, as players entering health and safety protocols has caused constant lineup changes, Porter has excelled.

He was recently praised for his ability to not only adapt but play well in new roles. Recently, teammate Draymond Green once again spoke highly of the Georgetown product.

In 21.2 minutes per game, Porter is averaging 8.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists, one steal and 0.5 blocks. He has been efficient from the field, making 46.6 percent of his shot attempts overall and 40 percent of his 3-pointers.

With the Golden State Warriors beginning to get healthier, as Klay Thompson is expected to make his return in a few days and players testing out of the health and safety protocols, Otto Porter Jr.’s role is likely to change again. But, Golden State knows that no matter what is asked of him, they will be getting solid production.
