The New York Knicks have yet to find the same success this NBA season in Year 2 under head coach Tom Thibodeau as they did in Year 1. After earning the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference in the 2021 postseason, the Knicks have a lot of work to do to even qualify for the 2022 postseason.

The team is not playing as well defensively this season, as they were an elite defensive team last season but are in the bottom third thus far this season. The front office made a concerted effort to bring in offensive weapons in free agency and those plans haven’t panned out as hoped.

Across the country, the Los Angeles Lakers are also seemingly having some buyers remorse about their offseason acquisition of Russell Westbrook. Westbrook is not having as poor of a season as some media outlets would lead you to believe, but it is fair to question his fit alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis.

Finding a team that will take Westbrook on, especially in-season, is easier said than done. His contract is massive, so there aren’t many teams that will be able to take on his salary without moving out multiple parts.

If Leon Rose and Scott Perry are looking to shake things up, Westbrook is someone they could consider. Trading for him has a ton of risks, and the Knicks are probably better off not trading for him. There will be opportunities to make a blockbuster trade down the line that would put the organization in a better position to succeed.

Alas, should New York actually be interested in Westbrook, there are a few ways they could go in building a trade package. Here are two trade packages the Knicks could consider were they to have negotiations centered around Westbrook.
