Boston Celtics Receive: G Josh Green, Two Second Round Picks
Dallas Mavericks Receive: G Dennis Schroder, G Romeo Langford

Dwight Powell, Maxi Kleber, and Willie Cauley-Stein are all players that the Dallas Mavericks could look to trade away in order to add more overall talent to their roster this season, but none of these three guys would be of interest to the Celtics.

Maybe someone like Dorian Finney-Smith could prove useful to them as a valuable secondary talent, but Dallas does not seem to want to trade him. So where does this leave Dallas?

Jalen Brunson is a valuable, young guard that the team does not want to trade away and they would like to keep Josh Green as well, but he is likely that player Boston would want back in return for Schroder should they not be able to get Finney-Smith or Brunson in return.

Now in his second NBA season, Josh Green is still in the early stages of development and still has a long way to go, but has shown flashes of his full potential as a 6’5” shooting guard on the perimeter.

Boston has always been receptive to adding young talents with potential to their roster and Green could join a young core that consists of Aaron Nesmith, Payton Pritchard, and others. Josh Green is not much of a shooting threat, but in time, could be a really solid two-way player on the wing.

As for Dallas, adding Dennis Schroder may not seem like a high-level move for them to make, but he is in the final year of his contract and has shown a lot of success embracing the “sixth-man” role over the years.

Schroder was great in Oklahoma City being a bench player and in Boston this season, while he has been thrown into the starting unit from time to time, he has once again thrived as being this team’s “sixth-man”.

Behind Luka Doncic, Dennis Schroder would not only provide stability as a secondary facilitator and ball-handler, but he would be another scorer that they could look to for production outside of Doncic and Porzingis.

Tim Hardaway Jr. is a very streaky scorer, as are Jalen Brunson and Maxi Kleber, which is why this team needs to make a somewhat big trade ahead of the trade deadline. Adding Schroder makes this team’s offense a little bit better, which is why he is worth the risk of giving up some future assets.
