Minnesota Timberwolves
The Cleveland Cavaliers are definitely a sleeper team in the Eastern Conference, but in the Western Conference, you should look no further than the Minnesota Timberwolves. I know this team has made the playoffs just once since the start of the 2004-05 season, but they have one of the best scoring trios in the league.
Karl-Anthony Towns, D’Angelo Russell and Anthony Edwards are combining to average 64.8 points per game this season and they have helped the Timberwolves get to a 16-18 record 30 games into the season.
It is really hard to stop these three guys, but for the Minnesota Timberwolves to reach their full potential, they will need to add a little bit more talent to their roster ahead of the NBA trade deadline.
Minnesota ranks just 19th in the league in bench points per game and they are not that deep of a team.

With just one other player, Malik Beasley, averaging double-digit scoring numbers, the Minnesota Timberwolves could really use some more offensive threats on their bench, especially if they want to make it back to the playoffs this season.
However, Patrick Beverley has really helped this team get better defensively and with the Western Conference being weaker than usual, the door is cracked open for the Minnesota Timberwolves to claim a spot in the playoffs, possibly even avoiding the play-in tournament!
Minnesota is currently 9th in the Western Conference playoff picture and as long as their All-Star-like trio remains healthy, they are going to be a tough team to stop.
Karl-Anthony Towns has looked like one of the best centers once again, D’Angelo Russell is one of the best isolation guards in the league offensively and Anthony Edwards has made a huge jump in his second season.
