This Knicks-Kings Trade Features De’Aaron Fox To New York

Since their 5-1 start to the 2021-22 NBA season, the Knicks have been a very shaky team and have seemed to flat-line during the month of December. New York is just 2-7 this month and as a result, they have now fallen to 13-17 on the year.

Coming off a season in which they finished with the fourth-best record in the Eastern Conference and made the playoffs for the first-time since 2013, there was a lot of hype surrounding the Knicks entering this season, but they have just not lived up to the expectations placed on them.

Their offseason signings of Evan Fournier and Kemba Walker, who were supposed to greatly improve the Knicks’ offense, have been very underwhelming and after being one of the best defensive teams in the league a year ago, New York has really struggled on that end of the floor.

The Knicks are only giving up an average of 42.3 points in the paint per game, the third-best in the league, but they rank just 23rd in defensive rating and are giving up the 7th most three-pointers per game to their opponents.

Fixing their defense has to be the main priority for New York right now, but offensive success translates directly to defensive success. Julius Randle cannot do everything for this team and with their backcourt being a mess right now, going out and trying to make a big splash by acquiring De’Aaron Fox could be something that highly interests the Knicks as an organization.

Now in his sixth NBA season, De’Aaron Fox has turned himself into a borderline All-Star talent in Sacramento, but has not found much success with the Sacramento Kings given how bad their organization is. Fox is locked into a five-year, max contract with Sacramento, but his name has been floated around in trade rumors as of late.

With yet another interim head coach and a front-office that has not been willing to make great moves over the years, it does not seem like they are going to be ending their 15-year playoff drought. The Kings love Fox’s production and he is the face of their franchise right now, but he is really their only high-value player.

Leveraging De’Aaron Fox right now could bring a massive haul of assets back to the Kings in order to allow them to finally snap out of their rebuild and add the necessary talent they need to become a threat in the Western Conference, especially since they just drafted guards in back-to-back NBA drafts.

Could we see a shocking NBA blockbuster deal between the New York Knicks and Sacramento Kings that sends De’Aaron Fox to the bright lights of Madison Square Garden? Let’s take a look at a trade proposal put together by Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz that makes this trade a reality.
