This Heat-Thunder Trade Sends Intriguing Veteran To Miami

Miami Heat, NBA Trade Rumors
NBA Analysis Network

The Miami Heat reached the 2020 NBA Finals in the NBA Bubble not too long ago, ultimately losing to the Los Angeles Lakers, but in attempts to prove that their run to The Finals during the 2019-20 was not a fluke, everything that could have gone wrong seemed to go wrong for this team last season.

Injuries, health protocols and bad luck stayed with the Heat all season long, resulting in them finishing the regular season with a 40-32 record and getting swept by the Bucks in the first-round of the playoffs.

Miami knew that they were not far off from being real contenders and that they needed just a little bit more talent, so they not only acquired P.J. Tucker and Markieff Morris as veteran role players in the offseason, but the team also added All-Star point guard Kyle Lowry.

Injuries have continued to impact the Heat this season, as Bam Adebayo is out after having thumb surgery to repair some torn ligaments and Jimmy Butler is out due to a tailbone contusion, but Miami has found ways to succeed without their stars and are currently 17-12.

LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: This Lakers-Thunder Trade Lands Kenrich Williams In L.A.

Head coach Erik Spoelstra has once again succeeded in building his team into one of the best defensive teams in the league and only allowing 103.8 points per game, the third best in the league, the Heat are absolutely title contenders once again.

As guys continue to return to the lineup and get healthy, this Heat team is going to continue to get better, but they could also look to add some talent to their roster ahead of the trade deadline. Miami added Victor Oladipo and were in talks with the Raptors to acquire Kyle Lowry at the deadline last year, so Pat Riley is not afraid to make big moves for his team.

While their options for “big moves” could be limited at the deadline this season due to financial restraints, the Heat do have an open roster spot and have some smaller contracts they could move for an impactful role player.

LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: This Lakers-Thunder Trade Lands Kenrich Williams In L.A.

He is definitely not the best talent available via trade this season, but Kenrich Williams is certainly someone that the Heat could target in a trade and wind up acquiring fairly easily from the Thunder.

Last season in Oklahoma City, Williams averaged 8.0 points, 4.1 rebounds and shot 44.4% from three-point range, making him a versatile perimeter threat that Miami could utilize for more depth.

So how can they make this trade work? Let’s take a look at a proposal put together by Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley that sends Kenrich Williams to the Miami Heat.
