This Knicks-Hawks Trade Sends Kemba Walker To Atlanta

Kemba Walker, New York Knicks, NBA Trade Rumors
NBA Analysis Network

The New York Knicks made a big change to their roster two weeks ago when they not only pulled Kemba Walker from their starting lineup, but their entire rotation as a whole. Now in his 11th NBA season, the former All-Star point guard was expected to be a huge addition for the Knicks in the offseason, but things have not worked out the way many had imagined.

In 18 games this season, Walker has really struggled, averaging career-lows in points (11.7), rebounds (2.6), assists (3.1), field goals made per game (4.2) and field goals attempted per game (9.8). Multiple knee injuries over the course of his career have seemed to take a toll on Kemba Walker’s overall production, leaving his future in this league in doubt.

With the trade deadline rapidly approaching, there are now talks about the Knicks possibly moving on from Walker and just getting out of his contract. Currently 12-15, New York has really struggled this season and need to make some changes to their roster if they are to make it back to the playoffs.

The Eastern Conference is better than it has usually been and having a better record than just 3 other teams in the conference, things are not looking good for the Knicks right now.

Just a handful of months ago, the Knicks were the 4-seed in the Eastern Conference, but now, they are just looking to get back into the playoff picture!

Trading Kemba Walker is a move that makes sense for this team and while his market may be small, the Atlanta Hawks could be a team interested in him. Lou Williams and Delon Wright have not been productive behind Trae Young on this team’s depth chart, resulting in a need for another scorer/facilitator in their second-unit.

Not to mention, Atlanta has also struggled to be a great team this season because of various injuries up and down their roster.
