Does this trade make sense for the Indiana Pacers?

Trading Caris LeVert to try and go through a quick rebuild is definitely something that could make sense for the Indiana Pacers. However, it is hard to say whether or not trading him to the Nuggets makes sense until they have a clearer picture of what could happen with Jeff Green and JaMychal Green.

Indiana may want to keep Facundo Campazzo with T.J. McConnell being out, but both Greens would not really fit into what they would like to do in terms of a quick rebuild since they are both veteran players under contract past this season.

Getting other teams involved in this deal that sends LeVert to Denver is the only way the Pacers would be interested in this trade, that way they can get some more future value in exchange for one of their core players.

Jeff Green ($4.5M) and JaMychal Green ($8.2M) are two experienced players in this league that if they were to hit the trade block, would gain a lot of traction. Because of both players’ ability to step out on the perimeter and knock down shots from the perimeter as frontcourt talents, there are a handful of playoff/playoff-contending teams that will be interested in them.

Obviously Jeff Green would gain more trade interest because of his smaller contract, but JaMychal Green has proven to be a physical rebounder on one end and a crafty finisher on the other end in his time with the Nuggets.

This is just strictly hypothetical, but if the Celtics were to get JaMychal Green in this trade and a team like the Timberwolves were to acquire Jeff Green, it is possible that Indiana could not only end up with Facundo Campazzo and draft picks from the Nuggets, but a young player like Aaron Nesmith or Romeo Langford from Boston, along with some draft compensation from Minnesota.

Leveraging Caris LeVert right now while he has one year after this season left on his contract is definitely something that makes sense for the Indiana Pacers, but the details of the multi-team trade would have to be hammered down first before we can say this deal is worthwhile for them.
