Does this trade make sense for the Indiana Pacers?

It seems very likely that Myles Turner will be the first player to get traded by the Indiana Pacers this season and what they need to be looking for in a trade involving him is future value. This is going to be the first domino to fall for the Pacers in terms of rebuilding, which is why they need to get their hands on as many young talents or draft picks as possible for Turner.

In this deal, they not only replace him with James Wiseman, but they get Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody, two lottery picks from this past year’s draft that have sky-high potential on the wing and in the frontcourt.

There is really nothing not to like about this deal for Indiana moving forward other than the fact that they do not get a draft pick and have to give up two first-round picks in addition to Turner.

Maybe they would only be willing to give up one draft pick in this deal, but when you look at the big picture of this trade, they would be giving up a player who has one more year left on his contract after this season and a player that would hit free agency in 2023 for three players who were picked 2nd, 7th and 14th overall over the last two seasons.

Seeing as they are basically getting three first-round picks, giving some back to the Golden State Warriors with protections on them seems only fair. Trading Myles Turner for three of the best prospects in the entire NBA would work wonders for the future core of the Indiana Pacers, which is why they would be all-in on making this trade, pending negotiations on what picks and protections to trade.
