Toronto Raptors point guard Goran Dragic is hoping that he can find his way to a new NBA team sooner than later. If he had a choice in the matter, he never would have landed with the Raptors in the first place.
Dragic was acquired by the Raptors, along with Precious Achiuwa, in the sign-and-trade deal that sent Kyle Lowry to the Miami Heat. Dragic wasn’t thrilled with the move and let his feelings be known upon completion of the deal.
Once the regular season rolled around, things seemed to be better. Dragic started the first game of the season but saw his role quickly shrink. He came off the bench for three games before he was removed from the rotation altogether.
Dragic went nine games without getting on the court before he was thrust into the starting lineup one more time. It was short-lived, as he has not played in any of the subsequent 10 games. He is now away from the team for a personal matter, so we could have very well seen him in a Raptors uniform for the last time.

There will likely be plenty of suitors calling the Raptors about making a deal for Dragic down the line. He is one of the better veteran backcourt options that are seemingly available as we get closer and closer to the NBA Trade Deadline.
One of the teams to keep an eye on when it comes to a Dragic trade is the Dallas Mavericks. They have been linked to him since he was part of the sign-and-trade deal, as they would love to partner him with fellow Slovenian guard, Luka Doncic.
The feeling is mutual, as Dallas is Dragic’s preferred landing spot. He is also amenable to any role with the team.
“If Dragic can get free from Toronto, his preferred destination is the Dallas Mavericks. Dragic would reportedly like to play with fellow Slovenian Luka Doncic. Dragic is also happy to accept a bench role with the Mavericks.”
Dragic is exactly the kind of player that the Dallas Mavericks were looking to acquire all offseason. They were in the market for a secondary ball-handler to pair with Doncic in the starting lineup.

It is a role that Jalen Brunson has proven capable of handling, but inserting him into the starting five leaves the bench unit lacking. Acquiring Goran Dragic would help them bolster their backcourt, as either he or Brunson would be capable of leading the second unit or pairing up with Doncic in the starting five.
