The Toronto Raptors are one team that people around the league will be keeping an eye on as the NBA Trade Deadline approaches. Toronto has some players that could be on the move, including veteran point guard Goran Dragic.
Dragic was acquired from the Miami Heat this offseason in the sign-and-trade deal that landed Kyle Lowry in South Beach. This transaction cost the Heat a second-round pick, as they got hit with some tampering charges.
It was a deal that didn’t please Goran Dragic, as the Raptors are in a bit of a rebuild. He expressed his displeasure with landing on the Raptors, saying it wasn’t his preferred landing spot. One of the places that he would reportedly like to play for is the Dallas Mavericks.
The Mavericks have been a rumored landing spot for Dragic since he was first traded by the Miami Heat. The feeling is mutual, as that would be his preferred landing spot.

“If Dragic can get free from Toronto, his preferred destination is the Dallas Mavericks. Dragic would reportedly like to play with fellow Slovenian Luka Doncic. Dragic is also happy to accept a bench role with the Mavericks.”
Getting free from Toronto will not be easy. They have no interest in negotiating a buyout currently as Goran Dragic is one of the better trade pieces that could be made available in the coming weeks and months despite not playing much with Toronto.
Dragic started opening night for the Raptors but was removed from the starting five after that. He quickly saw his minutes cut and was soon pulled out of the rotation altogether. After coming off the bench for three games, he didn’t play for nine consecutive games.

Goran Dragic has not seen the court in the 10 subsequent games and was inactive for the previous four. It is only a matter of time until the team moves on from him, but they are going to look to get as many assets in return for him as possible.
If Dallas is willing to pay the Toronto Raptors’ price, a deal could be had. If not, they will trade him to the team that presents them with the best offer.
