This Kings-Mavericks Trade Features Harrison Barnes To Dallas

Harrison Barnes, Dallas Mavericks, NBA Trade Rumors

At 11-9, the Dallas Mavericks are a good team in the Western Conference, but are they great? Luka Doncic surely is, as the young superstar is averaging 25.6 points, 7.9 rebounds, 8.6 assists, 1.2 steals and is shooting 45% from the floor, but the rest of this roster has been sluggish to begin the 2021-22 NBA season.

I will give Kristaps Porzingis credit because he has been playing really well as of late, averaging 22.4 points, 8.3 rebounds and shooting 50% from the floor over his last 9 games, but scoring depth is definitely a concerning factor for the Dallas Mavericks this season.

This team is only averaging 106.0 points per game, the 10th fewest in the league and while they rank 14th in the league in offensive rating, the Mavericks are the only team in the league who is currently leading their division while also having a negative point differential.

They are good, but the Dallas Mavericks are not great, which is why they need to be looking to make some moves ahead of the trade deadline this year. They have a $10.8M TPE that was created when they traded Josh Richardson to the Boston Celtics, giving them the ability to add another decent player to their roster, but the Mavs also have a handful of tradable contracts.

Dwight Powell ($11M), Reggie Bullock ($9.5M), Maxi Kleber ($8.7M) and Dorian Finney-Smith ($4M) are all players the Mavericks could look to leverage in order to add some more overall talent to their roster.

While he just signed a four-year deal with them in the offseason, it is also possible that Tim Hardaway Jr. could be traded if the Dallas Mavericks were to receive a ton of value. Compared to the rest of the Western Conference, this team needs more talent and they can get that from a team that they would not expect to be talking to.

The Sacramento Kings have missed the playoffs each of the last 15 seasons and while they have a lot of talented players, they have been mismanaged and miscoached for years. Currently 9-14, the Kings definitely have a chance to sneak into the play-in tournament this year, as they almost did last year, but we could also see Sacramento start all over and trade a handful of their key assets.

Buddy Hield and Marvin Bagley III are both key talents on this Kings’ roster that could and will likely be moved ahead of the trade deadline this year and veteran Harrison Barnes is also in an intriguing situation.

Barnes was traded from Dallas to Sacramento during the 2018-19 season and has played well with the Kings over the years, but with one year left on his contract after this season, now would be the best time for the Kings to look to trade him.

Could the Dallas Mavericks not only be interested in reacquiring Harrison Barnes, but possibly upgrading their frontcourt with Marvin Bagley as well? Let’s take a look at a trade proposal put together by ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk that results in the Mavericks getting both of these key talents from the Kings.
