Since the start of the 2019-20 season, the Indiana Pacers have not won a playoff game and they have their third head coach in as many NBA seasons. Rick Carlisle, who coached the Pacers to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2004 returned to Indiana this past offseason, but so far, things have not gone well for this group.

The Indiana Pacers are just 9-14 this season and with T.J. Warren still out due to a foot injury suffered last season, they have a lot of work to do if they are to make the playoffs this year, especially given how crowded the Eastern Conference is with playoff caliber teams.

Malcolm Brogdon and Domantas Sabonis have been playing well for this team, looking like two potential All-Stars, but the rest of this team is very inconsistent and the Pacers’ overall offensive game plan has not been great.

The Pacers rank 16th in the league in scoring, 15th in field goal percentage and 16th in offensive rating, making them a very average team in the NBA right now. Rookie Chris Duarte has been a key secondary contributor for them this season, as has Caris LeVert, but the Pacers need to make some moves and roster changes if they are to be a threat in the East.

It is definitely possible that they look to trade Myles Turner while his value is high, but Jeremy Lamb is definitely a player they are currently looking to move. Now in his 10th season in the NBA, Lamb is coming off an ACL injury in 2020 and is someone that the Pacers really do not need on the wing anymore since they have LeVert, Duarte and Holiday.

In the final year of his contract and making $10.5M, it is going to be tough for the Pacers to try and find a place to ship Jeremy Lamb, but one team who could be interested in him is the New Orleans Pelicans.

At 6-17, the Pelicans are near last-place in the Western Conference and are really going to need to change their ways if they are to have a shot at sneaking into the play-in tournament. The Hawks and Wizards both turned their seasons around at the All-Star break last season, so there is definitely still hope for New Orleans, but it is fading fast.

Jeremy Lamb is not the player he once was, but he is a steady scorer on the perimeter and wing, an area in which the Pelicans are lacking talent right now. Could Indiana actually get something for their veteran from the Pelicans though?

Let’s take a look at a trade proposal put together by Bleacher Report’s Dan Favale that not only sends Jeremy Lamb to the New Orleans Pelicans, but one of New Orleans’ veterans back to Indiana for some more backcourt depth.
