Ben McLemore – Portland Trail Blazers

Building off the idea of adding more shooting in the absence of Joe Harris, one player that should be on the Brooklyn Nets’ radar right now is Ben McLemore. In the offseason, McLemore joined the Portland Trail Blazers on a minimum deal, but they have barely played the veteran sharpshooter.

Ben McLemore is only averaging 6.6 minutes per game on the season in Portland, which is very puzzling given that he has produced everywhere he has gone in the league. The now 28-year-old wing is in his 9th NBA season and playing for his 5th different team in the Blazers.

After starting the year with the Houston Rockets last season, Ben McLemore was bought out and signed with the Los Angeles Lakers shortly after, where he played in a total of 21 games and shot 36.8% from the perimeter.

For his career, Ben McLemore has shot 36.3% from three-point range and over the last three seasons, he has shot 37.9% from long-range. The Nets are going to need a “spark” off-the-bench with Joe Harris being out, which is why going after the veteran is not a bad idea whatsoever.

Who knows what Portland plans to do this season in regards to potential trades and whether or not they are even willing to move McLemore, but he is definitely a player that would come to Brooklyn and make his presence known rather quickly.

The Nets do not need Ben McLemore to contend in the Eastern Conference, as they are already the best team in the conference, but acquiring him at a low-price definitely does not hurt this team in any way.

Verdict: Pursue
