The Boston Celtics have been disappointing in recent years and it could be because they do not have an identity to this point. The Celtics can be summed up by having two stars offensively that struggle on the other end. Also, Boston has not had that stability at the top of the offense.
Harrison Barnes would not help at the point guard position but he is a veteran who knows how to produce when it matters most.
The Boston Celtics are expected to compete once the playoffs come around. This was not what happened a season ago when they lost in five games to the Brooklyn Nets in the first round.
Boston is looking to have a better fortune over the course of the regular season, which will happen if the team can find that firepower elsewhere. Barnes would bring a new dynamic to the rotation right away.

It would be interesting to see how Boston would use a player like Barnes. When it comes out that Barnes is officially available, the Boston Celtics should be one of the first teams to make an offer.
