Would this trade make sense for the Philadelphia 76ers?
Managing to land Damian Lillard is the absolute best-case scenario for the Philadelphia 76ers. He’s one of the few ‘ideal’ targets the team has in mind in a trade for Ben Simmons. Of course, Lillard would have to request a trade for that to be possible, however.
They are able to land one of the best players in the league for a headache that they have had for years now and some draft picks, which will be near the end of the first round anyway. This seems like a no-brainer for a team looking to win a championship.
Lillard has been linked to contending teams since these trade rumors began. This includes Philadelphia. This seems like the closest the Sixers have been to winning a title in over a decade — or more.
Joel Embiid has his team at the top of the league and will only improve further if a true point guard can be brought into the lineup. The Sixers were let down by the lack of scoring coming from the top of the offense. This is what Lillard would fix right away given that he is an elite scorer and an all-time shooter.
