Would this trade make sense for the Philadelphia 76ers?
It’s important to keep into consideration this trade from Rausch was made with the spirit in mind of making a trade work for every team in the NBA in order to land Ben Simmons.
The Atlanta Hawks are not going to be considered the best potential suitor for Simmons in terms of the value of a return for the Philadelphia 76ers. So, it wouldn’t be fair to view this trade package from such a perspective where it’s about evaluating the “best” option out there.
There are some elements of this NBA trade scenario to like for the 76ers. Cam Reddish has shown some intriguing flashes on the wing while Onyeka Okongwu could be more of a long-term answer as a high-level backup center behind Joel Embiid.
While there is some positive elements to this NBA trade scenario, there just isn’t enough to appeal to the 76ers for them to say “yes” to part with Simmons. There would need to be a lot more draft compensation and including De’Andre Hunter would be more intriguing. But still, the type of return isn’t there.
