Would this trade make sense for the Houston Rockets?
It is clear the direction the Houston Rockets are heading. Jalen Green was selected with the second pick in this year’s draft and is the new cornerstone player. Now, Houston has to decide which players or long-term pieces and are going to be used in trades.
Wood is in the second year of a three-year deal he signed with the Rockets. If he is not going to sign another deal, now is the time to move him because there is still a year of control. The Rockets would be able to use that as leverage and acquire more in a deal.
In this particular one, it is about getting draft picks. The Rockets made three selections in the first round last year and could have a similar number this year if they send away some veterans.
Jalen Green has looked strong early on and it makes sense to put some more prospects around him. There would be opened up room to give minutes to younger center options like Alperen Sengun.
