Miami Heat, NBA Rumors
NBA Analysis Network

Making the NBA Finals in the 2020 NBA Bubble seems like so long ago for the Miami Heat, but all of their core talent from that championship-caliber team is still on their roster. Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo, Duncan Robinson, and Tyler Herro are all still the main weapons on this Heat roster and now with Kyle Lowry and P.J. Tucker, they have become an even better team!

The Heat have begun the 2021-22 season 12-6 and they are currently one game behind the Brooklyn Nets for the best record in the Eastern Conference. This team is not going anywhere in the standings anytime soon and right now, they are one of the best teams in the entire league because of how balanced they are.

Ranking 6th in offensive rating and 4th in defensive rating, there are no flaws to this Miami team and the only way to beat them seems to pray that they are having an off-shooting night!

Jimmy Butler has been playing like a legit MVP candidate, Tyler Herro looks like a lock to be this season’s Sixth-Man of the Year and with the stability veteran Kyle Lowry gives this team on both ends of the court, the Heat really are title favorites in the Eastern Conference once again.

The Heat have plenty of time to map out any potential moves they want to make ahead of the trade deadline this season, but they are limited to what they can do because of their cap situation.

Miami is already well over the salary cap for the year and is just about $400K below the tax line, so any additional moves they make will likely result in this team getting hit with a luxury tax penalty. If it means winning a championship though, the Heat are going to make any moves necessary.

We saw them go after Victor Oladipo last season and this year, while they may not target as big of a name, there are still some players who could have an impact on this team. Does Miami have the ability to make some big trades ahead of this season’s trade deadline?

Let’s take a look at three players the Heat could target, as proposed by Bleacher Report’s Zach Buckley, and evaluate whether or not Miami should “pass or pursue” said trade targets.
