Would this trade make sense for the Phoenix Suns?

It’s difficult to look too much into ways a team on a 15-game win streak should be making changes to their roster. However, the Phoenix Suns could use a veteran like Thaddeus Young to enhance their current configuration.

Young is one of the more versatile wing defenders in the NBA. He has the size to guard bigger wings while having the quickness to handle smaller wings. He’s got the combination of attributes to be a very helpful contributor to a switch-everything lineup.

While it remains to be seen how much winning the Los Angeles Lakers will be doing come playoff time, Young would be a nice option to throw onto LeBron James. The same can be said about matching up with the likes of Giannis Antetokounmpo or Kevin Durant.

The Suns would have the option of deploying Young as a small-ball center option in certain lineups. He succeeded in doing so with the Chicago Bulls flashing real defensive versatility and playmaking.

If the Suns could land Thaddeus Young for a deal as cheap as this one, they would quite literally already have him on the roster. That doesn’t mean they shouldn’t keep trying, though.
