Houston Rockets Receive: PG Ben Simmons, SG Isaiah Joe, PF Charles Bassey
Philadelphia 76ers Receive: G/F Eric Gordon, F Danuel House Jr., PG D.J. Augustin, 2023 first-round pick (via Milwaukee Bucks), 2025 first-round pick (top-three-protected)
In order to finally put an end to the ongoing Ben Simmons saga, the Philadelphia 76ers require a hefty asking price that simply no team has been willing to satisfy. Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz has an idea on a deal to get it done.
The Houston Rockets would part with Eric Gordon, Danuel House Jr., and D.J. Augustin along with two future first-round picks while the Philadelphia 76ers would move no picks to go along with Ben Simmons, Isaiah Joe, and Charles Bassey.
The draft picks involved in this NBA trade scenario would be a 2023 first-round pick from the Milwaukee Bucks. With the team having an outlook very much still in the mix to contend for a championship with Giannis Antetokounmpo signed long-term, that wouldn’t have much for value.
The other first-round pick involved would be the Rockets’ selection in the 2025 NBA Draft. However, it would come with top-three protection to go along with it.

The Rockets could give Simmons as much time as he needs to get mentally ready to play as the team racks up losses in order to maximize its 2022 NBA Draft positioning. Or, the team could try its best to win games and hope that adding a difference-making veteran can help the development of its key young pieces.
Let’s see if this NBA trade scenario centered around Ben Simmons would make sense for both the Houston Rockets and Philadelphia 76ers.
