Does this trade make sense for the Philadelphia 76ers?

If the 76ers can get Brandon Ingram in a trade involving Ben Simmons, they should absolutely look to get the deal done, regardless of what else is involved in this trade player/draft pick-wise. Ingram is a great offensive threat and at 24-years-old, he is the perfect player to pair with Joel Embiid long-term.

Ben Simmons does not want to play for the 76ers anymore and quite honestly, the organization probably does not want him back either. The only reason they have been saying that they want him to play is so his value can increase and the team will have a shot at increasing what they will get back in a future trade package.

Players like Damian Lillard and Bradley Beal remain high on the 76ers’ list of players they want to add to their team in a potential trade, but it just does not seem reasonable to believe that they will have a chance to acquire either of them now or in the future.

The 76ers options are limited at this point in a potential trade involving Ben Simmons, which is why this is one of the only trade opportunities they would likely pursue if Ingram became available in trade talks.

It is looking more and more likely that Philadelphia will be waiting until the offseason to make a decision on Ben Simmons’ future with the team, especially since they are in fact in a position to contend right now with him off-the-court.

Obviously trading Ben Simmons right now gives the 76ers more value than they currently have available to play each and every night, but there is no rush to make a decision because this team has proven that they can win without him.

Brandon Ingram and Garrett Temple are two guys who can contribute right away upon arrival in Philadelphia, giving the 76ers the extra depth on the wing that they need, as well as that third key scoring talent that they are missing next to Embiid and Harris.
