Josh Jackson – Detroit Pistons

The Detroit Pistons are rebuilding this year and as a result, they are going to be active at the trade deadline in terms of trying to acquire more youth and draft picks.

While he is only 24-years-old and formerly the fourth overall pick in 2017, Josh Jackson is in the final year of his contract and a very tradeable player.

After the Suns traded Jackson to the Grizzlies in 2019, many believed that the young forward’s chance to shine in this league had passed, but Josh Jackson has done a good job of working himself into a key bench player on the wing in this league.

Last season in Detroit, Jackson averaged 13.4 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and shot 41.9% from the floor. So far this year, he has continued to produce in his bench role and is someone the Pistons are interested in moving if they can get another young talent/draft picks for him.

LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Nuggets’ Michael Porter Jr. Could Miss Rest Of Season

Being owed $5M this season, the Denver Nuggets would have to move some contracts to acquire Jackson since none of their trade exceptions match his salary, but they do have the ability to acquire him should they wish to do so.

Who the Nuggets would trade away given that they like their roster how it is would be the question that needs to be asked, but if they were to part ways with Zeke Nnaji And Facundo Campazzo, they would be freeing up the necessary money to acquire Josh Jackson from the Pistons.

Another possibility for the Nuggets to acquire a larger contract is to possibly move JaMychal Green. While they did sign Green to a two-year, $16.4M contract this past offseason, the veteran big man is only averaging 14.2 minutes per game this year in Denver.

LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Nuggets’ Michael Porter Jr. Could Miss Rest Of Season

Having Bol Bol behind Nikola Jokic in the team’s depth chart and also having Jeff Green as a versatile frontcourt player, the Nuggets may actually consider moving JaMychal Green if it means getting a key talent to replace Michael Porter Jr.’s production on the wing. Maybe they would not move Green for someone like Josh Jackson, but the Pistons’ wing is definitely an intriguing trade target.

Josh Jackson is a key bench talent who can not only provide scoring on the wing but also be a reliable one-on-one defender. His three-point shooting may cause the Nuggets to look elsewhere on the trade market for production, but the young forward is definitely someone to keep an eye on in trade talks leading up to the trade deadline this season.
