The Oklahoma City Thunder are in the midst of a rebuild but they have shown that they will be competitive every time they step on the court this NBA season. They haven’t won many games, as they are 6-10 and lost four out of their last five games, but have received some solid production from a few players.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is a star in the making and the face of the franchise. He signed a max extension in the offseason, locking him in long-term as part of the team’s foundation for the future. Finding more players that fit the timeline along with him is key for the Thunder.
They have a few intriguing young players, one of whom is Luguentz Dort. Dort is known as more of a defensive specialist, but this season, he has taken his game offensively to another level.
He is averaging a career-high 16.6 points per game as one of the go-to scorers for the team lacking options beyond SGA. Dort has struggled with his 3-point shot this season, making only 30.5 percent of his 3-point attempts, but he has begun finding his stride a little more recently.

From November 10th-17th, Dort scored at least 20 points in all five games. The Thunder went 3-2 in that stretch of games as Dort averaged 24.6 points, five rebounds and 1.6 steals per game. He was efficient, making 58.8 percent of his shot attempts, 37.5 percent of his 3-pointers and 77.8 percent of his free throws.
He has been even better efficiency-wise over his last five games, as Dort has made 41.5 percent of his 3-point attempts on 8.2 attempts per game. He scored a season-high 34 points against the Houston Rockets on November 17th, as he made 14-of-22 shots in the game, including four 3-pointers.

The offensive improvement from Luguentz Dort this season has been nice to see. If he can sustain the success that he has found recently from the 3-point line, the Oklahoma City Thunder could have another long-term foundational piece on their hands.
