New Orleans Pelicans Receive: F Marvin Bagley III, SAC 2026 2nd Round Pick

The Sacramento Kings added the likes of Tristan Thompson and Alex Len to their frontcourt this offseason and they also extended Richaun Holmes long-term, so they may not necessarily be looking to add another center to their roster, but Jaxson Hayes definitely brings a lot of potential to Sacramento as a former first-round draft pick of the Pelicans.

Hayes was drafted 8th overall in 2019 by New Orleans, but his role in their frontcourt has been minimal through the years. He has consistently seen between 16-18 minutes per game early on in his career with the Pelicans and is nothing more than a young bench talent on their roster.

Being an above-average athlete for a center in today’s NBA, Jaxson Hayes can definitely wind up being more than a role player off the bench and could wind up being a really solid fit next to Richaun Holmes for the Sacramento Kings. Where Holmes is more of a reliable finisher and slower-paced big man, Hayes uses his athleticism on both ends of the court not only to rebound but be an avid shot-blocker as well.

Being under contract this year and next year on his rookie deal makes Jaxson Hayes is not only a cheap frontcourt option for the Sacramento Kings but an intriguing player for the Kings to consider in a trade for Marvin Bagley III. They would be getting some first-round value with the young big man and in terms of future value, the Kings would also be receiving two second-round picks from New Orleans.

On the other side of things, the New Orleans Pelicans would finally have a valuable forward they could utilize in their rotations next to Valanciunas, Williamson and Ingram, giving them needed depth they do not currently have. Acquiring Bagley would also be easy for this team to do since they have a $17M TPE stemming from them trading Steven Adams to Memphis in the offseason.

There is a lot that makes sense in this trade in terms of finances and exceptions matching up with one another, but is this a realistic trade we could see this season between the Sacramento Kings and New Orleans Pelicans?
