Not every deal around the NBA has to be a blockbuster. This is an example of a trade that might happen between two teams looking to reshape in some ways. The San Antonio Spurs have been far from contenders this season and the LA Clippers have aspirations of winning it all after Kawhi Leonard returns to the fold.

It was a strong run to the Western Conference Finals for the Clippers. They did so without Leonard, who suffered a knee injury and was sidelined. Paul George and Reggie Jackson stepped up and turned in some big-time performances.

Leonard signed a new contract this offseason after opting out while Jackson also re-signed with the Clippers. Los Angeles is entering the third year of their new setup and this could be the year that it is put all together. The Clippers do not have to make any blockbuster deals but adding some veterans could help come postseason time.

San Antonio did not make it to series play in the postseason last year but took a step toward returning. This is a franchise that is used to winning and is looking to get back to it but just doesn’t have the capability to do so right now. The Spurs have a young core to build around in Dejounte Murray and Keldon Johnson and could add some more pieces here.
