How This Trade Impacts Brooklyn Nets
The Brooklyn Nets have the most firepower offensively in the NBA. They set records for their offensive rating last season and it could improve even more with healthier seasons from James Harden and Kyrie Irving, if, of course, Irving were to return at some point.
But, if there is one area the team needs to improve, it is on defense. They are involved in way too many shootouts and do not get stops when they need them most. This trade would help them in that regard.
Saying goodbye to Joe Harris would sting, as his floor spacing helps their offense. But, his disappearing act in the postseason is something that should raise some eyebrows for a team looking to contend for a championship. If they decide they cannot afford to see how things shake out one more time this is a deal that makes sense for them.
Thaddeus Young would give the Nets a versatile player at forward. He can defend both frontcourt spots and gives them another option as a small-ball center. His acquisition would also push Kevin Durant down to small forward, which could save him some wear and tear throughout the season not having to bang with bigger, stronger players.

At this point, parting with draft picks is nothing new for Brooklyn. If they feel a move will help them achieve their goal of winning a championship, they will surrender draft picks willingly.
