Worst Trade Destination No. 2: New York Knicks
There were some rumors connecting Myles Turner to the New York Knicks during the offseason. The Knicks were in the market to make some upgrade to their roster and had the assets to make it happen.
New York ultimately remained relatively quiet, signing Kemba Walker and Evan Fournier in free agency. If Turner rumors pick up once again, hopefully, it doesn’t land him with New York.
Turner would be a good fit stylistically alongside Julius Randle, but schematically for what Tom Thibodeau does, Turner isn’t a good fit. He isn’t overly comfortable switching on the perimeter as players like Mitchell Robinson, Nerlens Noel, and Taj Gibson, the Knicks’ current center depth chart.
As a defensive anchor, Turner fits the mold as a perennial shot-blocking champion. But he doesn’t fit the mold of what Thibodeau is looking for. Offensively, it would be more of the same.

It wouldn’t hurt the Knicks having a center that can space the floor, but Turner isn’t an above-the-rim player. Being a lob threat and finishing with putbacks are what the Knicks centers are asked to do.
There would certainly be some positives Turner brings to the table, as he has potential offensively that hasn’t been unlocked playing alongside Domantas Sabonis. But, New York wouldn’t be where he is able to realize that as things are run through Randle just as much, if not more than they are through Sabonis.
