How This Trade Impacts Sacramento Kings
The Sacramento Kings would have different motivations for making a deal like this with the Cleveland Cavaliers. One reason is to diversify their frontcourt attack and balance the roster.
Right now the Kings don’t have much floor spacing in their frontcourt. The only consistent threat from the perimeter in the frontcourt is Harrison Barnes, who bumps down to the small forward spot in certain situations.
Kevin Love, while struggling this season with his jump shot, is a bonafide scoring threat in the frontcourt and someone that can space the floor. He would add a dimension to the team that Sacramento is currently missing.
From a financial standpoint, this is also a win for the Sacramento Kings. While Love is paid more than Hield, his contract is one season shorter. Love will be a free agent in 2023, while Hield is signed through 2024.

The second-round draft picks are a nice addition for the Sacramento Kings as well. They can use those to help facilitate other deals, as Sacramento has been in the Ben Simmons sweepstakes and could use some upgrades elsewhere on the roster to push to be in the postseason mix.
