Josh Giddey – Oklahoma City Thunder

International prospects are always a big question mark when they enter the NBA, but we have seen more and more guys coming from overseas find success early on in their careers. Nikola Jokic, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Luka Doncic are three of the best players in the league right now and they all came into the NBA as international prospects.

Josh Giddey is the latest international player to be drafted into the NBA and the 6th overall pick has been really solid with the Oklahoma City Thunder this season. Rebuilding and looking to get the most out of their young guys, Josh Giddey has received plenty of playing time by the Thunder and is currently averaging 9.4 points, 6.9 rebounds, 5.9 assists, 1.1 steals and is shooting 38.4% from the floor.

He has been turnover prone so far this season, averaging 2.8 turnovers per game, and his three-point shooting is a concern at just 24.4%, but Josh Giddey is a guy who can do a little bit of everything to help this team win games.

Standing 6’8”, the 19-year-old Australian can play many different positions on the floor and has been one of the Thunder’s primary facilitators next to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander this season because of his vision and passing abilities.

Theo Maledon was the Thunder’s starting point guard last season, starting in 49 of the 65 games he played in, but Josh Giddey has seemed to take his spot in the starting rotation because of everything he can do for this young team. This season is going to be a learning process for Giddey and others on this Thunder roster, but the future is definitely bright for this organization.

Josh Giddey is just the latest young prospect the Thunder have drafted and with a plethora of draft picks over the next several years, Oklahoma City is building something special.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is obviously the face of their franchise right now, but Josh Giddey is definitely going to be right next to him for many years to come as a key talent on this roster.
