San Antonio Spurs Receive: G Kyrie Irving
Brooklyn Nets Receive: G Derrick White, F Thaddeus Young, SAS 2023 1st Round Pick (Lottery-Protected)
Going out and trading for Kyrie Irving would be a big move for the Spurs to make, but they would definitely need to know ahead of time whether or not Irving would want to remain in San Antonio long-term.
After this season, Irving has a player option for the 2022-23 season and if he was to opt into his contract for next season, he would be set to become a free agent in the 2023 offseason. If Kyrie is not wanting to stay in San Antonio, then the Spurs may not be interested in making this deal at all.
However, from a pure talent perspective, the Spurs would be getting everything they need to make it back to the playoffs in this trade.
Dejounte Murray and Keldon Johnson are two key young talents the Spurs are building with right now and while they like the production Derrick White gives them next to Murray in the backcourt, Irving would take this team to a whole new level.

The pair of Murray and Irving would be extremely tough for teams to guard and with other athletic players on this roster, the Spurs would suddenly be a lower-tier playoff threat that could wind up pulling off some upsets late in the year.
Brooklyn is in a position to win right now and they have built their team with the intention of making it to the Eastern Conference Finals at the least. Not having Kyrie Irving kind of complicates the way things are right now, but Kevin Durant is looking like an MVP candidate and with James Harden by his side, the Brooklyn Nets have everything they need to win a title.
Reinforcing their roster with guys like Thaddeus Young and Derrick White could be highly advantageous, especially since they could use the extra depth. If something was to happen to Durant or Harden injury-wise, the Brooklyn Nets would be left thin and not have the scoring depth they originally had with Kyrie available to play.

Adding Derrick White gives this backcourt another secondary scoring weapon next to the likes of Patty Mills and Joe Harris and then Thaddeus Young bolsters the Nets’ frontcourt even more than the likes of LaMarcus Aldridge and Blake Griffin have.
There is definitely value to be had here for the Brooklyn Nets and San Antonio Spurs, but the question that remains is if either team is actually interested in this trade?
