Does this trade make sense for the Sacramento Kings?
Kelly Oubre Jr. is definitely an impactful player on the wing for a team like the Sacramento Kings and seeing as they need to get anything they can for Bagley right now, this trade definitely makes sense for them to pursue.
Sacramento is looking to snap a 15-year playoff drought and currently, at 6-8, they look like they are going to have a real chance to sneak into the play-in tournament and have a shot to make the actual 8-team playoff field in the Western Conference.
De’Aaron Fox, Tyrese Haliburton, Harrison Barnes, and Richaun Holmes are all strong players in their own rights, but the second-unit of this Kings’ roster needs some work. With trade rumors circulating around Buddy Hield as well, Sacramento really need to add another reliable scorer on their wing, which is exactly what Kelly Oubre Jr. could bring to the table.
Maurice Harkless is the only other wing on this roster behind Barnes besides Hield right now and for a team that has the capability to push in transition, they need another athletic wing. Having the ability to play above the rim, Oubre Jr. would be a really solid addition for this team and they would not be attached to him long-term either since he is only under contract through next season.

The Kings stay under the tax line in this trade, they add another unique wing to their team and they improve their overall scoring ability, which is why they should be willing to move Marvin Bagley to the Hornets in this deal.
They may very well want “first-round value” for Bagley, but no team in the league is going to be willing to surrender a ton of assets for a young player in the final year of his contract that has been sitting out of games because he is unhappy with the organization.
Kelly Oubre Jr. may be the best “win-now” talent that they can get ahead of the trade deadline this year, which is why the Sacramento Kings would be smart to take what they can get from Bagley in this deal with Charlotte.
