Looking to snap their 15-year NBA playoff drought this season, the Sacramento Kings definitely have some roster issues to sort out. One of which revolves around the status of Marvin Bagley III and his future in this league.
Drama continues to surround the Sacramento Kings and former No. 2 overall pick Marvin Bagley III as recently, the 22-year-old forward appeared to refuse to go into a game after head coach Luke Walton called him on the bench.
After trying to trade him at the trade deadline last year and failing to do so, as well as this past offseason, Bagley seems fed up with the Kings at this start and so does his agent Jeff Schwartz of Excel Sports Management.
It is looking more and more likely that Bagley will be on the move this season, but the question that remains is what kind of a price will teams be willing to pay for him? In the final year of his rookie deal, teams trading for Marvin Bagley would hold all the long-term leverage in contract talks over him, but at the same time, sources have told NBA Analysis Network that Sacramento is wanting “first-round value” for Bagley.

Who knows if any team is going to be willing to trade this kind of value for a guy who is not currently playing, but according to NBA Insider Marc Stein, the Detroit Pistons are a team to keep an eye on in regards to the Kings’ forward.
“While in Detroit, I was advised to put the Pistons down as a team to watch as a trade suitor for the Kings’ disgruntled Marvin Bagley III,” Stein writes. “No trade anywhere is considered likely, sources stressed, until after Dec. 15 arrives and the league’s pool of players eligible to be dealt grows considerably. That’s the date that trade restrictions on numerous players who signed new contracts in free agency in August gets lifted.”
“The Pistons, though, have been tracking Bagley since last season, league sources said — long before the No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 fell completely out of favor in Sacramento.”
Given the fact that Kelly Olynyk will now miss at least 6 weeks due to a left knee sprain, the Pistons’ frontcourt is thin right now and they are a young team searching for answers on how to build a sustainable core for the future.
