Houston Rockets

Players Available via Trade: G Eric Gordon ($18.2M), G D.J. Augustin ($7M), Danuel House Jr. ($3.8M)

Jalen Green, Kevin Porter Jr., and Christian Wood seem to be the three focal points of the Houston Rockets’ rebuild right now with other key talents like Jae’Sean Tate, Alperen Sengun, and Keyon Martin Jr. also being a part of this core.

It is going to take time for head coach Stephen Silas to get his team on the path of victory, but eventually, the Houston Rockets have a chance to once again become a very strong team in the Western Conference. They have already put some players on the trade block this season, making the Rockets an organization that many teams across the league could look to strike a deal with.

Eric Gordon is their most impactful trade asset right now, but his contract is not too favorable and one that many teams around the league would have trouble trading for.

Set to make $18.2M this season, $19.5M next season and then $20.9M during the 2023-24 season (non-guaranteed), there are very few teams who would be interested in the veteran shooting guard, but he can still contribute at a high-level.

Prior to suffering a groin injury last season with the Houston Rockets, Gordon was averaging 17.8 points per game on 43.3% shooting and so far this season, he is averaging 13.8 points per game on 51.4% shooting from the floor, 52.9% from three-point range.

Being a part of numerous playoff-contending teams over the course of his career, Eric Gordon is a 14-year veteran in this league that can be utilized in or out of the starting rotation for a handful of playoff teams across the NBA. Some team is going to be willing to take on his contract this season and he is absolutely the kind of player that can help a team make a deep playoff push.

Guys like D.J. Augustin and Danuel House Jr. are also experienced, more affordable trade options for teams to take a look at on this Houston Rockets roster and it is also worth quickly mentioning John Wall.

The Houston Rockets and Wall are working together to figure out his future in this league, but he is owed $91.6M through next season, assuming he opts into his $47.4M player option for the 2022-23 season.

A deal in the offseason seems more likely than anything else at this point given the cap situation of teams across the league, but if Wall wants to continue playing in the NBA and have a shot to play next year, he may have to decline said player option and forfeit the $47.4M on his contract to take a smaller deal with another team in this league.

It will be interesting to see how this situation in Houston plays out with the former All-Star, but between Gordon, Augustin, and House Jr., the Houston Rockets have plenty of guys that they could and will look to trade away this season.
