How This Trade Impacts Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors want to keep the championship window open for as long as they can with their current core of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green. Thus far this season they have been one of the best teams in the NBA, so a drastic move may not be on the horizon.

But, if they decide they want to swing for the fences, they have the assets to make it happen. In this scenario, they hit a home run by landing Karl-Anthony Towns.

Towns is a huge upgrade in the middle for the Warriors. The center spot is the only one they are iffy at currently. Kevon Looney is serviceable, but if James Wiseman is not ready to contribute to a contender, the Warriors could look to move him as part of a deal to land someone who is.

Golden State’s offense would rise to new heights with someone such as Towns in the mix. Teams would have no answers for him while chasing around Curry, Thompson, and Jordan Poole on the perimeter.

At 25-years old, Towns would not only help the current core contend, but he could also be the focal point of the next core. The team is retaining Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody, both lottery picks in the 2021 NBA Draft, so there is plenty left for the future.

Parting with Andrew Wiggins, Wiseman, two first-round picks and one second-round pick is not cheap, but well worth it when acquiring a player like Towns.
