No team ever wants to start off a new NBA season slow, but in regards to the Portland Trail Blazers, a slow start is the last thing they wanted to happen this year. The Western Conference is competitive as it is and with teams like the Warriors, Grizzlies, and Nuggets on the rise in this conference, there is little room for error in Portland.
The Blazers currently sit 3-5 and they have yet to win a game on the road this season, as they are 0-4 away from home. The only other teams in the league without an away win this season are the Rockets, Thunder, Pistons and Pacers, putting the Trail Blazers with some of the worst teams in the league.
All offseason long, the talk in Portland was about getting Damian Lillard the help he deserved and they were supposed to usher in a new era with Chauncey Billups taking over as head coach and with all of their roster moves, but it seems like the Blazers have taken a step back to begin the year.
It is early on and the Blazers have only played eight games to this point, but there are definitely some growing concerns with this team. There are durability and fatigue concerns with Jusuf Nurkic and the number of minutes he can play every night, Robert Covington has been regressing on the offensive end of the floor and most importantly, Damian Lillard has really struggled to begin the new season.
