Starting the 2021-22 NBA season with one of the better records in the Eastern Conference is definitely good news for the Philadelphia 76ers, especially after all the bad news and media attention they have been receiving in the offseason. Their long dispute with All-Star Ben Simmons continues to go on and there does not seem to be an end in sight for this mess.

Throughout the offseason, the Philadelphia 76ers and team president Daryl Morey searched for ways to move on from 3x All-Star Ben Simmons in a trade, but their demanding price has been very steep.

The Sixers are wanting an All-Star-level player or a championship-caliber player in return for Simmons, and rightfully so given their status in the Eastern Conference, but no team in the league has been willing to offer said players.

The best offer they reportedly received included the likes of Malcolm Brogdon and a first-round pick from the Pacers, but the 76ers turned this offer down. With Brogdon now signing a new extension to remain in Indiana for the foreseeable future, he is now off the market in terms of being traded this year.

LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Frustration Mounting From 76ers With Ben Simmons Situation

Being able to trade Ben Simmons is something the 76ers still are interested in, but at the same time, they would much rather have him return to the team and play for them in Wells Fargo Center again. Who knows how the fans would respond to Simmons playing for their team again, but it does not seem like a return is inevitable for the 25-year-old.
