The Miami Heat have come out of the gates on fire to start the 2021-22 NBA season. They are tied for the best record in the NBA at 6-1 after defeating the Dallas Mavericks in their last game, 125-110.
It was another excellent performance by the team on both ends of the court, as they are running roughshod through whoever they are playing against. Every game they have been a part of has been decided by double-digits. Their single loss against the Indiana Pacers was by 11 points in overtime and they have won every game by at least 13.
Right now, there aren’t any holes to pick on this team. They have the No. 2 overall offensive rating in the NBA and are first in defensive rating with an astounding net rating of +16.6.
Three players are averaging at least 20 points per game, led by Jimmy Butler who is at a career-high 25. Tyler Herro has been magnificent off the bench, averaging 22.4 points per game and Bam Adebayo has been a two-way menace, averaging 20.8 points with 13.8 rebounds per game.

The Heat looks like the best team in the NBA right now. Jason Kidd, who is the head coach of the Mavericks, certainly thinks so.
“The Heat, I would consider them the best team in the league right now,” Kidd said.
It would be hard to argue against that, as Miami is clicking on all cylinders. The additions they have made in the offseason have paid off. Kyle Lowry, P.J. Tucker, and Markieff Morris have all played well thus far.
The only thing the Miami Heat are not above-average in currently is that they foul a lot, which has led to a lot of free-throw attempts for opponents. They also don’t generate many steals and blocks, ranking 20th and dead last in the league, respectively.

But, opponents are still struggling mightily to score, as their stifling defense is first in opponent’s field goal percentage at 39.7 percent. They are fifth in 3-point field goal percentage, allowing teams to shoot only 30.6 percent from long distance.
The only thing that will stop this momentum is injuries, something the Miami Heat have had to battle in recent seasons. If they can stay healthy, they have the looks of a team that will continue dominating the regular season.
