We are just about two weeks into the 2021-22 NBA season and there has already been so much to discuss. There are great games, incredible individual performances, and numerous highlights every night as the season has begun with a bang.
When taking a look at the current standings in the league, there are a lot of teams that are in spots you would have never expected them to be. Out of the 16 teams currently in the top-eight of each conference, there is a good chance not even a quarter of them are in the same spot come playoff time.
The Washington Wizards are currently in a four-way tie with the New York Knicks, Miami Heat, and Chicago Bulls atop the Eastern Conference at 5-1. The Utah Jazz is tied with the Golden State Warriors atop the Western Conference with a 5-1 record as well.
The 2021 NBA Finals participants, the champion Milwaukee Bucks and runner-up Phoenix Suns are both on the outside looking in. The Bucks are 3-4 battling numerous injuries in the early going while the Suns are 2-3.

With some powerhouse teams struggling out of the gate, other teams have taken advantage and moved up the standings at the start of the season. It is still very early, but games in October count just as much toward the final record as games in April do.
