The Golden State Warriors came into the offseason with lofty expectations. After losing in the NBA Play-In Tournament to the Los Angeles Lakers and Memphis Grizzlies, they wanted to upgrade their roster in a big way.
Armed with multiple assets, Golden State had the ammunition to pull off a blockbuster trade. They had two lottery picks in this year’s draft and James Wiseman, the No. 2 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, as centerpieces of a deal.
They worked the phones tirelessly but ended up making the No. 7 and No. 14 selections themselves. With those picks, they landed Jonathan Kuminga from the G League Ignite and Moses Moody out of Arkansas.
While they won’t be big players there, as they do not have salary cap space to spend, they did lock up Stephen Curry to a max extension and signed Nemanja Bjelica away from the Miami Heat.
