1. Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors didn’t make the splash trade during the offseason that many expected them to. Instead, they improved on the margins bringing in veterans to help add depth and lengthen the rotation.

The team has Stephen Curry still playing at an MVP level, but he needs help. The team is patiently awaiting the return of Klay Thompson, but after being sidelined for more than two years, it is anyone’s guess how well he will play. There will likely be a lot of rust to knock off as well with the last NBA game he played being Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals.

All of the assets that the Golden State Warriors had to offer in the offseason are still on the team. So, if they want to make that splash eventually, Brandon Ingram is the perfect target.

Trying to slow down a trio of Curry, Thompson, and Ingram is something that would keep the opposing coaching staff up late at night. There would be no good plan to slow down that trio, as you would have to just hope that they have an off night.

Golden State would be elite on both ends of the court, as Draymond Green is still a defensive ace for the team. He would be able to handle more of the big men as Ingram and Thompson, provided he is healthy, can lock down the perimeter.

There were reports linking Damian Lillard and Bradley Beal to the Golden State Warriors, but Ingram is arguably a better option. Ingram would help keep balance in Golden State’s starting lineup and at 24-years old, he is four years younger than Beal and seven years younger than Lillard.

If you are going to surrender assets that can help shape the future of your franchise, you want it to be for a player that will be wearing your jersey as long as possible. Signed through 2025, Brandon Ingram will be a free agent when he is turning only 28-years old.
