From 2015-2019, the Golden State Warriors were one of the most dominant teams in NBA history, making the NBA Finals for five consecutive years and capturing three titles in this span. In fact, they currently have 380 total wins since the start of the 2014-15 season, which is the most wins out of any team in the league since 2014.

Over the last two seasons though, the Warriors have hit multiple roadblocks and most of them come on the injury-front. Klay Thompson tore his left ACL in Game 6 of the 2019 NBA Finals and after Klay went down, things began to spiral out of control.

Kevin Durant left the Warriors that offseason and then just four games into the 2019-20 season, Stephen Curry suffered a broken left hand that caused him to miss pretty much the entire year.

Without Thompson and Curry, Golden State finished 15-50 during the 2019-20 season, missing the playoffs for the first time since 2012 and finishing with their worst record win-wise since the 1952-53 season when they were the Philadelphia Warriors.

Ending up with the No. 2 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, the Warriors drafted James Wiseman out of Memphis in the offseason leading up to the 2020-21 season and they looked to bounce back as a real playoff contender last season, especially with Klay Thompson set to return from his knee injury, but then Thompson suffered another setback during his rehab process.

In the offseason leading up to the 2020-21 season, Klay Thompson suffered a ruptured right Achilles tendon, which forced him to miss his second consecutive season.

Without Klay and the Warriors continuing to deal with injuries, Golden State finished with a 39-33 record in the shortened season last year and after losing to the Los Angeles Lakers and Memphis Grizzlies in the play-in tournament, they ended up missing the playoffs for the second consecutive year.

Seeing as they have won a total of just 54 games over the last two seasons after winning at least 57-games from 2014-15 to 2018-19, this season offers a big chance for the Golden State Warriors to prove that they are still a championship contender and as a result, they have started the year as one of the hottest teams in the league.
