Does this trade make sense for the Los Angeles Clippers?

Landing Pascal Siakam in a trade would be a huge move for the Los Angeles Clippers to make and they would be one of the best teams in the Western Conference as a result, but it is hard to imagine that they have the assets that any team in the league would be interested in.

A bunch of second-round picks, a 2028 first-round pick, and guys like Luke Kennard and Keon Johnson really do not present much value to playoff-caliber teams around this league simply because these are all low-value, unproven assets.

Kennard is a good three-point shooter and Johnson has a chance to grow into a really solid rotational player in this league, but there is no immediate value for a team to obtain from trading with the Clippers.

Marcus Morris Sr. could possibly be a “right away” type talent for any team in this league given his three-point shooting abilities, but his contract is definitely not favorable.

If the Clippers are to make a trade this season, it will likely be involving one of their two trade exceptions of $8.25M and $2.08M, especially since they are over the tax line for this season by a wide margin.

The Los Angeles Clippers really cannot take back many large contracts and since they do not have many assets to offer up, it is going to be hard for them to get a deal done this season, especially for a player of Pascal Siakam’s caliber.
