The Milwaukee Bucks raised the Larry O’Brien Trophy in 2021, defeating the Phoenix Suns in six games in the NBA Finals with Giannis Antetokounmpo leading the way. It was the first championship the team had won in 50 years and a testament to what can be achieved when patience is shown.

There had been some frustrating exits from the playoffs in previous seasons. Milwaukee just couldn’t get over the hump and some people believed head coach Mike Budenholzer would be fired should the Bucks not win the NBA Title.

With a little bit of luck against the Brooklyn Nets, as Kevin Durant’s foot being on the line pushed the game into overtime instead of sending the Bucks home, the Bucks got the job done. They battled adversity throughout the postseason and earned their championship.

With the 2021-22 season now underway, the Bucks are going to be defending their title. Some teams will have championship hangovers, but they do not seem like they will be one of them.

LATEST NBA NEWS & TRADE RUMORS: Giannis Antetokounmpo Has Epic Reaction To Bucks Banner Raise

Giannis Antetokounmpo is not satisfied with only having one. But, he does admit how happy he is and to get the monkey off their back.

“I’m happy,” Antetokounmpo said. “And I’m not happy because I’m happy, I’m happy because people around me are happy. I don’t feel like people are stressed out anymore.”

A lot of narratives change when you win a championship. As Giannis Antetokounmpo said, it won’t be as stressful knowing that you have already accomplished it once. You know what it takes to win now and you are forever remembered as being a champion.

Giannis is hoping that this is the first of many more, as he believes the Bucks can keep this going for a while.

“I feel like people are being taken care of and we’re going to do this for a long time. You see a lot of times in organizations that were not able to go over that hump, they break up. That did not happen to us. I’m happy that we’re able to … be able to do it for the next four, five, 10 years, whatever the case might be.”

At 26-years old, Antetokounmpo has plenty of great basketball ahead of him. The team has their core locked in for the foreseeable future, so there should be a lot of winning done in the coming years.
