Would this trade make sense for the Dallas Mavericks?

In Dallas, Kristaps Porzingis is a productive player for the Mavericks and a nice piece but is not the center of the franchise. This means that the Mavericks have plenty of options and leverage if they want to move Porzingis. There is no rush but if it happens, the chance to get a big return is still on the table.

Porzingis has struggled with injuries since entering the league and that has intensified since joining the Mavericks. He has helped them get to the postseason in back-to-back years but has not been able to remain on the floor consistently.

The Mavericks are expected to return to the playoffs once again and they can do that with or without Kristaps Porzingis. Doncic is one of the best players in the league and one of the favorites to win MVP this season.

Tim Hardaway Jr. re-signed in the offseason and there are other moves on the table to be made. In this trade, the Mavericks would get a player with a high ceiling in Dort and some draft capital.
