Philadelphia 76ers Receive: G Collin Sexton, F Kevin Love, CLE 2022 1st Round Pick (Top-3 Protected), CLE 2024 1st Round Pick (Top-3 Protected)

The first player that comes to mind in trade talks for the Cleveland Cavaliers is Kevin Love. Moving Kevin Love seemed to be a main priority of the Cleveland Cavaliers this offseason, yet the veteran forward still remains on the roster.

Love is owed $60.2M in total through the end of the 2022-23 season, a contract that is not favorable to the Cavaliers right now and quite honestly, is not too favorable to any team that would potentially trade for him. So far this season, Love has actually played quite well off-the-bench and he could very well be helping his trade stock at the moment.

Looking at the rest of the Cavaliers roster, Isaac Okoro, Cedi Osman, and Dylan Windler are all secondary talents that could be traded, but the one guy that makes the most sense in terms of going after a player like Ben Simmons is Collin Sexton.

There were rumors that the Cavs were interested in trading Sexton earlier in the offseason, but nothing ever came from this.

In order to trade Simmons, the 76ers are going to need to get a ton of value in return and that is exactly what Collin Sexton can bring to them. Through his first three seasons in the league, Sexton has led the Cavaliers in scoring twice and has averaged 20.2 points, 3.4 assists, and has shot 38.5% from deep for his career.

With or without the ball in his hands, Collin Sexton is a threat to score and he could be an excellent scoring machine next to Joel Embiid and Tobias Harris.

Pairing him with Kevin Love seems like the best way financially for the Cleveland Cavaliers to make this trade work, but there are definitely questions that still exist about the 76ers’ wants and needs pertaining to the Cavs.
