Would this trade make sense for the Atlanta Hawks?
It has become clear the teams need to load up on stars in the rotation in order to compete for titles — something the Atlanta Hawks could be looking to do after coming close to the NBA Finals last season.
The Hawks had their core break out and show that they can win right away. CJ McCollum is an elite scorer in the league. He can get it done at all three levels and create his own shot from anywhere on the floor. This would fit well next to Young, who broke out on the league’s biggest stage.
Atlanta has been aggressive over the years in hopes of putting the right players around their young core and it happened a bit sooner than expected.
The front office can complete the process by adding a player like McCollum to the backcourt alongside Trae Young, who is one of the NBA’s most dynamic guards already as is.

In thinking about the Hawks, they are looking to prove that last year was not a fluke. To continue to maintain success and not be a one-year darling, they will have to add up other stars.
