Sooner or later, this situation involving NBA All-Star Ben Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers is going to have to come to an end. Things aren’t getting any better, as head coach Doc Rivers threw him out of practice for not wanting to participate in drills.

Simmons was subsequently suspended for the team’s first game of the season against the New Orleans Pelicans.

The 76ers didn’t miss a beat, as Tyrese Maxey stepped into the starting point guard spot and had a great game.

Philadelphia went to New Orleans and won 117-97. Granted, the Pelicans were without Zion Williamson, but it was a good win nonetheless for a 76ers team looking to put the Simmons saga behind them and gain some confidence.

The organization could still be holding out hope that Ben Simmons can reassimilate himself with the team, but that seems like a long shot at this point. The team is ready to move on and focus on what matters; winning games on the court.

Now, it is just a matter of Daryl Morey biting the bullet and finding a deal. He wants a king’s ransom, but that isn’t going to happen. Could this deal with the Portland Trail Blazers, courtesy of ESPN, be good enough?
