Marvin Bagley III – Sacramento Kings

The Sacramento Kings looked to trade Marvin Bagley III at the trade deadline last season and they were unable to find a deal that they liked. They then tried to trade him again this offseason but were unable to find a trade that they liked. Now, Bagley remains in an awkward situation in Sacramento with a team that really does not want him long-term.

This was made clear when they did not offer him a rookie contract extension ahead of the start of the 2021-22 season and now, Marvin Bagley’s management is weighing in on his current situation with the Sacramento Kings.

If any key role player is going to be traded during the first month of the regular season, it is going to be Marvin Bagley III, as he and his management team seem to be fed up with the way the Sacramento Kings have treated him over the years. The former No. 2 overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft definitely still has the potential to be a two-way threat in this league, but injuries have limited his chances to prove this.

Since being drafted, Bagley has missed close to 50% of the Kings’ total games, but when he has been on the court, he has been productive. In 118 career games with the Sacramento Kings, Marvin Bagley III has averaged 14.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and has shot 50% from the floor, 31.4% from three-point range.

With another team and getting a fresh start, Bagley has a chance to not only prove that he is a high-level, young talent in this league, but he will have a chance to actually help his team win games. It’s just not going to get done with the Sacramento Kings.

The Sacramento Kings are far from being a playoff threat in the Western Conference and in fact, they have missed the postseason for 15 consecutive years now.

One of the most unstable organizations in the entire league, the Sacramento Kings are not going to be a threat anytime soon and once again, they have mismanaged a really good, young talent on their roster. Bagley is going to be traded this season, it is just a matter of when he will be traded and where he will end up.
